Las Vegas Trip Planning Made Easy

Las Vegas is one of the easier cities to plan a trip to, once you know the basics. Here's a straightforward guide to getting it right.

Pick Your Dates Carefully

Las Vegas has events running year-round, and some weekends are significantly more expensive than others. The National Finals Rodeo in early December, New Year's Eve, and major fight weekends fill the city fast. If you're flexible, mid-week stays and early December (before the NFR) offer better rates and fewer crowds. Fall is generally the most comfortable weather-wise.

Where to Stay

The Strip is the obvious choice for location, but not all Strip hotels are the same. MGM Signature is a non-gaming, smoke-free all-suite tower connected to MGM Grand by an indoor walkway. You get the location without the casino floor. Suites have full kitchens, private balconies, and access to three private pools. Browse available suites to see what's open for your dates.

Book Shows and Dining in Advance

The best restaurants and shows fill up, especially on weekends. Decide what you want to do before you arrive and book it. KA by Cirque du Soleil, Joel Robuchon, and the Bellagio's higher-end dining all benefit from advance reservations. The concierge at Signature can help if you're already booked with us.

Budget for the Real Costs

Flights, accommodation, dining, shows, and transportation are the main categories. If you book through a third-party platform, add 10 to 15% in service fees to your accommodation cost. Booking direct eliminates that. The suite kitchen also cuts food costs significantly on longer stays.

Getting Around

Uber and Lyft are reliable and usually faster than taxis. The Las Vegas Monorail runs along the east side of the Strip and is useful for a few specific stops. Walking is fine in mild weather but brutal in summer heat. Plan your routing around the indoor walkways between properties when temperatures are high.

A Few Things Worth Knowing

  • Carry cash for tips. Valet, bell staff, and housekeeping all appreciate it.

  • Drink water consistently. The desert air is dry and dehydration sneaks up on you.

  • Check-in at MGM Signature is at 4 PM. If you arrive early, the bell desk will hold your bags.
