How to Plan a Summer Trip to Las Vegas Without Breaking the Bank
Published August 12, 2025
Vegas in summer gets a bad reputation because of the heat. Temperatures regularly top 100 degrees, but the city is built for it. Everything is air-conditioned, the pools are open, and if you plan around the heat rather than against it, summer is actually a good time to visit. Rates can be lower than peak periods, and the entertainment calendar stays full.
Book Smart
Mid-week stays (Sunday through Thursday) are typically cheaper than weekends. Booking 30 to 60 days out helps you lock in better rates before prices move. Booking direct means no third-party service fees, which can add 10 to 15% on platforms like VRBO or Airbnb. That's a real number on a multi-night stay.
Why MGM Signature Works in Summer
Three private heated pools that are less crowded than the main MGM Grand complex. A suite with a kitchen so you're not eating out for every meal. An indoor air-conditioned walkway to MGM Grand so you're not crossing a parking lot in 105-degree heat. The smoke-free environment is also a genuine relief after a few hours on the Strip.
Beat the Heat Practically
Go out in the morning or evening. Midday on the Strip in July is brutal.
Bring sunscreen, a hat, and a refillable water bottle.
Pack two swimsuits. One is never enough.
Use the indoor walkway to MGM Grand whenever possible.
Save on Dining
The suite kitchen is one of the better perks of staying at Signature. Stock breakfast and snacks through Instacart before you arrive. Eat out for the dinners that are worth it and keep the rest simple. Over a four or five night stay, the savings add up.
Summer Events
Big-name residencies run year-round. Pool parties and dayclubs are at their peak in summer. The High Roller observation wheel is open nightly. Check what's on before you arrive and book show tickets in advance, especially for weekends.
