The stretch between Thanksgiving and mid-December is one of the more underrated times to visit Las Vegas. Crowds are moderate, rates are often better than peak holiday weeks, and the city is already fully decorated. If you're thinking about a New Year's Eve trip, booking early is the move.
Why Thanksgiving Week Works
Las Vegas welcomed 41.7 million visitors in 2024, up 2.1% over the prior year. Thanksgiving week brings a festive atmosphere without the full intensity of Christmas or New Year's. Weather is pleasant, with highs in the 60s, so walking the Strip or eating outside is comfortable. Restaurants and shows are running full schedules, and the holiday decor is already up.
Staying in a suite at MGM Signature means you have a kitchen for a slower morning, a private balcony, and a quiet place to come back to after a day out. It's a different pace than a standard hotel room.
Early December: Often the Best Value of the Year
The first two weeks of December are a genuine sweet spot. Hotel occupancy in Las Vegas ran at 83.6% for the full year in 2024, but early December often has better availability than the holiday surge that follows. Rates for condo rentals and suites tend to be lower than Christmas week, and the city is fully in holiday mode with tree lightings, seasonal shows, and festive dining menus.

MGM Grand's restaurants, shows, and spa are fully operational and accessible via the indoor walkway from Signature.
The National Finals Rodeo runs the first two weeks of December and fills the city. Book early if your dates overlap.
New Year's Eve
